Tackle It Tuesday: Don't Buy Gift Tags for Next Year

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Hey Cheapo! Do you have a frugal Tackle for today?

Ever wonder what to do with all of those beautiful Christmas cards people send to you during the holidays? Cheapo just hates throwing them away. For one, it's a waste of resources (the paper, not the holiday wish) and two, people have spent lots of money on them!

Well, this is what McFrug does with her cards every year.

She turns them into gift tags for the following year! That's right folks, depending on how many cards you receive, you may never have to spend money on gift tags again! Now, you can get rather fancy with them - but all Cheapo did was cut out the pictures, punch a hole and add a ribbon or string to each one. Need an idea to keep your children busy for a while ? Here ya go! Store them away (the tags...not the children) and next Christmas you will be so thrilled when you pull them back out. "Gift tags? CHECK!"

What do you do with your leftover Christmas cards? Leave a comment and let us all know! Just one more way to help the world and save a buck at the same time. *wink*

Love the idea of adding strings and ribbons for tags! I do a similar thing with Christmas cards... I try to cut out smaller pictures and adorn plain wrapping paper with them when wrapping gifts. I just cut the front of the cards off, and store them in a ziplock bag. Then when the holidays roll around, I sort through them and cut specific pictures as needed. No two gifts need look alike under the tree!

What a fantastic idea! I took all my cards down a couple weeks ago but haven't thrown them away. I kept thinking surely there was something I could do with them but couldn't come up with anything. Now I know! Thank you.

I do that too because my parents did. I wrote a post about this as well with a little video demonstration at http://karenzemek.blogspot.com/2008/12/save-that-paper-and-those-cards.html
