Frugal Friday: Free (or low cost) Flicks

Hey, Hey Frugalites! Well, I should say, frugal peeps that live in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Looking for some cheap, Summer fun for your kids...all the while keeping nice and cool, and maybe, possibly catching a nap? Sounds like a nice afternoon to me!

Here ya go!

Kerasotes 2009 FREE (yes, I said FREE) Summer Movies!!

If you live in one of the states listed above, click here to find a participating theater near you. For my local folks, you can find these movies playing at:
  • Michigan City - Showplace 14
  • Schererville - ShowPlace 16
  • South Bend - ShowPlace 16
Free movies are on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 am. Doors open at 9:00 am and seating is first come, first serve.
No advance ticketing will be available.
Kiddie combo add-ons will be available at the concession stand.

The movie schedule is as follows:
  • July 15 & 16 - Paul Blart Mall Cop
  • July 22 & 23 - The Tale of Despereaux
  • July 29 & 30 - Hotel For Dogs
  • August 5 & 6 - Coraline

For those of you who live rather close to the Portage 16 IMAX, they are offering Kid's Summer Movies for $1.00 each!

The theater is located at Route 6 at Airport Road, 2 Miles west of 149
Monday - Friday: 10:30 am
(you could have a nap each day of the week!)
$3 and $4 Kiddie Combos are available. Of course, in no way do I condone the bringing in of snacks to any of these theaters somewhere deep down in your diaper bag or cluttered up purse. I repeat, in. no. way.

The schedule here looks like this:
  • 7/13 - 7/17: Daddy Day Care
  • 7/20 - 7/24: Over the Hedge
  • 7/27 - 7/31: Shrek the Third
  • 8/3 - 8/7: Surf's Up
  • 8/10 - 8/14: Bee Movie
  • 8/17 - 8/21: The Spiderwick Chronicles
Go here for a bit of info.

To ensure a really cheap movie trip, be sure to feed your children and hydrate them well before you go. Otherwise, they will want everything in sight. Your frugal field trip can easily turn into a mini-vacation before you even reach your movie seat.

Sit back, enjoy and...have a GREAT nap!

The Cinemark in Valpo has $1 movies on weekdays, too!
