Yes, if you are wondering, I made three trips to the grocery store this week for deals. A little extreme? Maybe. But remember, I haven't been on a "real" grocery spree since before BlogHer! (that's like, 3 weeks ago already) I believe I did rather well NOT spending money. What do you think? (Monday's shop & Tuesday's shop)
Cheapo's tip of the week: ALWAYS try and coordinate your highest value coupons with items that are ALREADY on sale. By doing this, you will get the maximum savings possible - especially at stores that double or triple coupons. Just for your information, I rarely EVER buy any food item that is NOT on sale. I always plan my menu's around these sale items. Here is an example of how the sale/coupon combo gives you an extra dollar in your wallet:
For all of the Kroger items above:
Total Regular Price: $82.87 (NO thank you)
Coupons used: $33.23 = $49.64 (still, NO thank you)
Sale Savings: $21.61
Grand Total that I paid: $28.03
See how this works? So you say that you only buy sale items too but don't have time to coupon? You would have paid $61.26 - TWICE as much as I paid!! It PAYS to clip!! You can't afford not to. *wink*
What coupons did I use? 2 Post Cereal Sunday Q's, $1.00/2 Dole Fruit (this might be unavailable now - print them as you see them!), FREE Stouffer's Flatbread from BlogHer, $1.00/2 Grands Biscuits, $.50/ 2 Crescent rolls, 2 Dannon yogurt Sunday Q's, $2.00 8th Continent Soymilk (this was marked down to $3.05 so only paid $1.05), FREE Tide Stain Release from BlogHer, $1.00/2 Bic pens (this may be gone now), $1.00 Activa Sunday Q, $1.00 Danactive Sunday Q, FREE Country Bob's from BlogHer, FREE Ragu from BlogHer, $1.00/2 Quaker Granola bars from oatmeal box, $1.00 Welch's juice, $.75 Hormel completes Sunday Q.
*Remember: Kroger doubles coupons every day up to a face value of $.50 - so, a $.55 coupon will NOT double. They will also double coupons that say "Do Not Double or Triple." Sometimes, if caught, my local groc shop will not. :(*
Are you a Kroger shopper that lives in Texas or Louisiana? If so, you may want to check out the Super Doubles Saturday over at Keeping the Kingdom First. Kroger stores in these two states are doubling coupons up to a $1.00 face value. You do not want to miss that!!
