"Hey Cheapo! How did you triple your savings on grocs this week?"
First of all, if you don't know about savings plans at your local grocery store, start learning about it. Nowadays, many stores offer savings cards, double coupons, rewards points or even triple coupon days to give you shopping incentives or to help save money. For instance, my local store offers two savings days: one day is 10% off and the other is triple coupon day. Also, I believe the closest Kroger always doubles coupons - but I don't know the specifics as it's about 25 miles away and I refuse to spend the extra gas to get there. Though, it probably would pay off to make a once per month trip over there. I'll have to look into that.
You don't think couponing is worth your time? It is! Make the most of it! Try and pair your 3x coupons with items that are already on sale. Of course, some weeks will be better than others with savings, but a dollar saved here and a dollar saved there really adds up at the end of the month. I have been saving $15-$20 per week on groceries by using coupons & sale flyers. That's a savings of around $80 per month!
